Derby’s League One promotion rivals Blackpool and Bolton making transfer moves as the season draws closer

With less than a week until the start of the new season, League One clubs are still making moves to boost their chances of promotion.

Derby County still have plenty of work to do in the transfer market but elsewhere in the division, clubs are working hard to get fresh faces into the squad.

Blackpool make £500,000 move for Crystal Palace winger

Blackpool have made a £500,000 bid for Crystal Palace winger Scott Banks.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at League Two Bradford City, making 29 appearances in which he scored six goals.

According to Alan Nixon, Football writer for the Sun on Twitter, the Tangerines are close to sigining the winger and the move “should get done soon.”

Carlisle United star ‘not for sale’ according to Blues’ boss

Carlisle United manager Paul Simpson has addressed recent transfer rumours by saying that Blues’ star midfielder Owen Moxon is not for sale.

In a statement on the club’s official website, the Carlisle boss said: “There was a bid for him. It was absolutely turned down flat.

“There was an inquiry from the same club a few weeks ago where we were asked to name our price, and the club were absolutely adamant there’s no price because he’s not for sale.”

It is believed that the club in question was newly relegated Blackpool after TheRealEFL reported that the Tangerines had a £250,000 bid turned down for Moxon.

Last season, Owen Moxon helped Carlisle United to promotion from League Two, winning the club’s player of the season award and also making the League Two Team of the Season along the way. So there’s no surprise that the Blues are so keen to keep him at Brunton Park.

Oxford United look to add Liverpool youngster

Oxford United are looking to add to their already busy transfer window as thier manager revealed that they are in talks to sign Liverpool youngster Max Woltman.

Woltman, 19, trained with Oxford earlier in the summer and also made a preseason appearance as a substitute for the U’s against Swansea City.

The attacker has attracted interest for a permanent deal from the League One outfit. Oxford manager Liam Manning, speaking to Oxford Mail, said: “We’re talking to Liverpool and exploring what that looks like.

“It’s more of a development project than it is coming in and impacting the team straight away.”

Bolton add Premier League loanee

Derby County’s promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers have made their eighth sigining of the summer window by adding Brentford midfielder Paris Maghoma.

Maghoma, 22, was an academy product at Tottenham Hotspur and made 20 League One appearances on loan at MK Dons last season netting one goal last season.

He also spent time on loan at League Two Wimbledon last year making a further 18 appearances.

The English midfielder has made 15 international appearances at youth level.
