‘Unique’ night swim invites water fans to enjoy floating under the stars at beautiful East Midlands park
For a fee of £35, swimmers will dive into Rutland Water at night, leisurely swimming laps against the backdrop of gentle music and glow sticks providing cosy lighting.
Fans of swimming and embracing the great outdoors could be in for a treat at a unique event this summer.
Rutland Night Swim organisers are inviting people to experience the thrill of swimming in open water underneath the stars on Saturday, August 30.
Organisers have described the Rutland Night Swim as a ‘truly unique and magical experience’.
Hundreds of swimmers are set to take to the water, where they will leisurely swim laps against the backdrop of gentle music and glow sticks providing cosy lighting.
It is not a competitive event and swimmers taking part are encouraged to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy their time in the lake.
Swimmers have options depending on difficulty level, with several routes suiting all abilities.
There is a main course of 600m and a 250m loop for those wanting a more sheltered course and easier access to the shore.
You can complete as many laps as you like within the time allocated.

The event takes place from the shore of Rutland Water in the Village of Whitwell, located on the North shore of Rutland Water between Barnsdale and Empingham.
Sat Nav for the location is Rutland Watersports, Bull Brigg lane, Whitwell LE15 8BL. Follow the Swim Rutland signs to race registration.
Food and drink will be available between 9pm and 10pm.
All ages and abilities are welcome but you must be 10 yrs old and able to swim the distance unassisted.
Loan of Safety equipment is also available including swim floats, emergency whistle and glow wrist bands.
Entry fee: £35 includes parking charges, swim hat, glow stick, comprehensive safety cover, full medical support, hot drink and snacks, bag store plus use of showers and changing facilities.
