What’s On Derby: Test out your best jokes at open mic night with a twist at Dubrek Studios
Happy Tuesdays, one of Derby’s leading comedy outfits, has announced a summer open mic night with a twist in the city.

Hide AdThe event at Dubrek Studios on Tuesday, July 9 2024, is a workshop and open mic night rolled into one.
Unlike their usual events where the full evening is dedicated to an open mic session filled with comedy acts, the summer session starts with a writers’ workshop first.
The event is great for anyone who has ever wanted to try stand up comedy, tell a funny story, or prepare for a speech.

Hide AdThey can head down to Dubrek for a fun 90-minute comedy workshop, followed by an open mic.

The workshop will be led by circuit comedians who will offer tips on joke writing, memory techniques and on-stage confidence.
Spots for the open mic will be allocated at the workshop. Performance is not compulsory.

It is also a supportive event where friends and families of creatives can come together to see their loved ones perform on stage.

Tickets cost £6.50, audience places are free of charge from 8.30pm onwards.
Donations are invited for Best In Class, a crowd-funded profit sharing show that champions talented working class comedians, with a view to helping them perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
