DerbyWorld attended the preview day ahead of the official launch. Derby Market Hall opened on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
To celebrate the launch of one of Derby’s highly anticipated buildings, we will be running a Spotlight Series on traders and insiders at the Derby Market Hall.
First up is Hana York, who is Derby Market Hall Manager.
We caught up with Hana before the venue opened, at the preview day on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Derby Market Hall opened to the public 48-hours later.
It was interesting to see traders putting the finishing touches to their stalls and the wider hall being given the final once over.
Derby Market Hall is a multi-use space, serving as a food hall, market hall and events space all rolled into one.
The multi-million pound building has been hosting a week’s long programme to celebrate the reopening during half-term.
A diverse range of traders range from vintage, pre-loved clothing to pet supplies and local creatives and makers selling their bespoke creations.
Flying the flag for Derby and wider Derbyshire is Derbyshire's Own.
The brainchild of the people behind Derby Uncovered Heritage Centre on Sadler Gate, Derbyshire’s Own stall aims to champion the very best of Derby and Derbyshire.
The global food offering includes Dutch pancakes, Jerk chicken and festivals (crispy dumplings), tikka dishes and more.
Hana was excited about the opening and she couldn’t wait to invite people through the doors of the freshly renovated Grade II listed building.
Keep your eyes peeled for more candid chats with traders and people behind the scenes at Derby Market Hall.
