‘Fish Friday’ is here and with it news of a new study that has named Derby as the one of the cheapest cities serving the Brit classic fish and chips.

Number crunching experts at WDW Bingo analysed data to reveal the most budget-friendly locations for chippy fans.

To commemorate National Fish & Chip Day on Friday, June 6 2025, WDW Bingo delved into the cost of one of Britain’s favourite staple meals across the UK - and the results vary massively depending on where you live.

Using a combination of Just Eat and desk research, the WDW Bingo team analysed thousands of menus for traditional fish and chip shops in over 50 locations across the UK.

The data reveals where your money goes furthest for a portion of fish and chips.

The overall average cost of fish and chips across the UK is £11.71.

Manchester is the cheapest location for fish and chips, at £8.94 on average.

Exeter ranks most expensive in the UK (£16.55), followed by London (£16.29).
