New Nando’s serves 'next level' loaded Chickle Burger at Meteor Retail Centre, Derby's newest restaurant
A new Nando’s restaurant has opened in Derby and I went along to taste a brand-new burger on the menu.
Nando’s Meteor Retail Park is located three miles and a 15-minute drive from Derby city centre.

Hide AdThe restaurant opened its doors on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 and I visited a few days’ ahead of launch to report on the new space and food.

Now, Nando’s is much more than a chicken restaurant.
It has a solid vegetarian offering too with veggie-friendly dishes such as mushroom and halloumi pitta, bean burgers and plant-based wraps.
I tried Cheesy Chickle Burger which is grilled chicken breast loaded with cheese and herby pickle.
The meat was succulent and I especially enjoyed the flavour profile.

I love bread in all its starchy, stretchy-gluten glory, which is why the burger bun made an impression with me.
Nando’s served the chicken burger in their brand-new rustic Portuguese roll.
It was soft yet with a deliciously light chew, robust enough to take on the generous amount of sauces, and it didn’t fold and go doughy like some burger buns do.

Hide AdSoggy, character-less bread is one of my pet peeves so I really appreciated this carefully thought-out addition to the burger.
What also drew my attention is the al fresco dining area outside.
With Sagres beer on draught and a frozen cocktail machine onsite, Nando’s Meteor Retail Park could well become one of Derby’s hottest beer gardens.
