Derby dairy creates ‘magic’ ice cream that turns your tongue black for Halloween
Other Halloween flavours include tongue-tastic Sour Apple and Toasted Toffee.
An ice cream that ‘magically’ turns your tongue black has been launched by a local dairy.
Bluebells is giving Halloween fans a treat - not a trick - with its limited edition ‘ice-scream’ selection.
Located just 15 minutes away from Derby city centre, Bluebells Farm Park is drawing in crowds with their fun and fabulous flavours just in time for the spooky season.
The four autumnal flavours of Deathly Mallows, Spiced Pumpkin Latte, Sour Apple and Toasted Toffee are available until stocks last.
Deathly Mallows is a striking black ice cream that owes its Halloween hue to activated charcoal.
Widely considered to have health benefits including alleviating stomach bloating, activated charcoal also acts as a natural food colouring.
Ella Brown, co-owner at Bluebells Farm Park, said: “The return of Deathly Mallows this year has already gone down a storm. Especially with little ones as they can give people a fright with their spooky black mouth. We launched the flavour back in 2019 and bring it back every year due to its popularity.”
Each year, the family farm park and micro-dairy release new seasonal flavours which are available for a limited time only.
They sit amongst the large variety of 29 flavours of luxury artisan ice cream and sorbet that the Brown Family has been producing on-site since 2007.
Ella added: “Each year we bring out new, whacky seasonal flavours that you can’t find elsewhere.
“When thinking about flavours for this year, we thought what screams autumn - it had to be pumpkin spice!
“The flavour is everywhere in latte form, so we wanted to bring this into the perfect ice cream treat for people visiting the farm.”
Visitors can grab a scoop of ice cream from the on-site parlour or takeaway a tub after their visit to the Halloween Festival, which has been a staple of the Bluebells Farm Park calendar.
What is the Halloween Festival at Bluebells Farm Park?
Described by its organisers as ‘bigger and better than ever before’, the event sees the return of the popular Pumpkin Village for those looking to pick their own pumpkin and fancy-dress parade.
There will also be daily spooky shows and farm adventures.
Bluebells Farm Park says tickets for this year’s event, which runs until October 31, have been selling out fast.
A new addition to the fun roster of events includes a witch’s potion class and celebrity-inspired scarecrows in the maize maze, where visitors can get selfies with Dead Sheeran and Ghost Malone.
Admission to the event starts at 10am and costs £13.50 for an adult and £13.95 for a child.
Every paid-for child will receive a free pumpkin to carve, which can be taken home and displayed over the spooky season.
